Hutchins of St. Mary’s Road, will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Pleasant Green Methodist Church, with interment following in the church cemetery. The Rev. R. E. Mrs. Hutchins died Sunday at 9:10 a.m. at Watts Hospital, following several years of declining health and a critical illness of four days. She was born in Orange County, the daughter of the late Edgar [sic] J. and Isabel McCauley Carden. She received her education in the Orange County schools and lived her entire life in the Orange County area. She was a member of the Pleasant Green Methodist Church and the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Pleasant Green Church. Survivors include her husband, Mitchell L. Hutchins, who is now a patient in the Yancey Rest Home, Hillsboro; five daughters, Mrs. Harry M. Nabors, of Charlotte, Mrs. Wesley R. Hayes, of Jamestown, Mrs. R. J. Malone, of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Hugh Campbell, of Durham, and Mrs. David Lockhart, of Concord; four sons, Nello L. Hutchins of Durham, Cheatham R. Hutchins of Raleigh, Robert W. Hutchins of Spray, and Hervey A. Hutchins of Durham; 22 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Berth [sic] Shumaker of Durham and two brothers, J. Vernon Carden, of Durham, and Edgar G. Carden, of Spencer.
