Description	:	Mary Ella Nelson, age 94 passed away November 23, 2021 in Craig, Colorado. She was born January 22, 1927 to William Harrison and Gertrude Mae (Bates) Sanderson in Omaha, NE. Mary was a twin and because of her small size it was questionable if she would survive. With the grace of God she not only survived but through her faith flourished throughout her life. She was born January 22, 1927 to William Harrison and Gertrude Mae (Bates) Sanderson in Omaha, NE. Mary was a twin and because of her small size it was questionable if she would survive. With the grace of God she not only survived but through her faith flourished throughout her life. Mary married Axel William Nelson, March 23, 1946 In Olathe, Kansas. Bill and Mary farmed in the Craig and Lyons communities where they raised their growing family. They moved to Fremont, NE after retiring from farming where they finished raising their last two children. In 2015 Mary moved to Craig, CO to live with her daughter Peggy and husband Keith. Mary loved meeting new people and she always put their needs before her own. She volunteered wherever she was needed and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities to serve others. Her faith was extremely important to her and it was always a beacon in her life. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Axel William Nelson, her parents; daughter, Barbara Sue Nelson Anderson; granddaughter, Susie Nelson and daughter-in-law, Betty Nelson. She is survived by her 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mary is loved and missed by her family. As a footnote: Mary was interviewed in 2006 and she said she was rewarded with HER JEWELS (her six children). She was thankful for her dividends (her grandchildren), and even more blessings (her great-grandchildren). This speaks volumes of the love she's had for her family. Interment will be at the Argo Cemetery near Uehling, NE.
