J. A. WARD DEAD Mrs. Mary E. Ward, wife of Joseph A. Ward, a well-known business man of Gilman, was found dead in bed this morning. Mrs. Ward succumbed to heart disease, with which she had been a sufferer for some time, complicated with paralysis. Mrs. Ward was born Mary Ellen Beale at Wauseon, O., July 31, 1851, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Beale, pioneer residents of Gilman. The family moved to Gilman thirty-seven years ago, and Mrs. Ward has made her home there ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Ward were married in June, 1887, and became the parents of two children. They survive, with the husband and father. The children are Albert Ward and Mrs. Glenn Patterson, both of Gilman. In addition to her husband and children, Mrs. Ward is survived by one sister, Mrs. G. E. Stokes, who lives at the Ward home and who has assisted in the care of Mrs. Ward during the period of her ill health. Mrs. Stephen Gregg, another sister, died in 1884, and Letta Beale died at the age of 10 in Ohio. Mr. Beale passed away in 1886 and his widow died in 1898. Mrs. Ward had been active in the affairs of the Methodist church of Gilman for many years, and was until ill health prevented. Arrangements for the funeral had not been completed this afternoon.
