(Hillsboro, Highland Co., Ohio) 1886-1973, December 23, 1886, Image 4 NEW LEXINGTON December 20, 1886 Died Mary Ellen Geffs, daughter of Manlove and Mary Ann Adams, was born near Leesburg. Nov. 13th, 1857, and died Dec 16th, 1886, aged 29 years, 1 month, and 3 days. A a child she was always of a kindly and genial disposition, one was converted and joined the church at the age of 16 years. She was married to Foster Geffs Nov 16th, 1876. On the 17th day ot last October she went to Cincinnati to consult her physician, under whose care she had been for some time, and while there she was stricken down with typhoid fever, which caused her death. Although her desire was to get well, she bore her sufferings with great patience. She seemed to realize that her stay on earth was short, and the last expression she gave utterance to was the name of her husband. Notwithstanding the last years of her life brought her much physical suffering, she still continued to bear that loving, kindly dianosition which made her so dear to all. By her death the family lose a loving child and tender sister, and her husband a faithful and devoted wife. Her funeral was preached at the home of her parent in New Lexington by Rev. Redkey, of Leesburg, She was buried in Pleasant Hill cemetery near Leesburg. December's snows in tbe pale moon's light On her grave of evergreens lie, And tbe starry hosts shine there at night, From their far off homes on high Beyond the blue skies above her bed, Beyond earth's sorrow, pain and care, With a jeweled crown upon her head, Her spirit form rest sweetly there.
