Her birthplace was in the old Pinhook district southeast of Clarinda. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec 16, 1935, and since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs John (Florence) Clayton, who lives southwest of Guss. She is the last member of her generation of the Campbell family. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs John (Florence) Campbell, Guss, Ia, Mrs Vane (Helen) McPike, New Market, Ia, and Mrs James (Ruth) Jensen, of Triangle, Va. Also survived by one sister, Mrs Matthew (Jessie) Rine, Shenandoah, Ia. Funeral services will be conducted from the Walker Funeral Home at 2 pm Tuesday, with the Rev Ralph G. Allen in charge. Soloist will be Shirley Larson, organist Aletha Hutchings and casket bearers Gary Spring, Jerry Sparks, Roy Graham, Clyde Jones, Russell Clayton, and David Clayton. Burial will be at the side of her husband in Memory Cemetery near New Market. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Jul 30, 1962 Mary Ellen Osborn, daughter of Jeff and Sarah Jane Osborn, was born in Page County, Iowa, Aug 13, 1876, and passed away at the Municipal Hospital following a 10-day illness July 29, 1962, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 15 days. When a small child the family moved to New Market, Ia, where she was educated and grew to womanhood. On Nov 29, 1895, she was united in marriage to John R. Campbell. To this union were born three daughter, Florence (Mrs John Clayton, New Market, Ia), Helen (Mrs Vance McPike, New Market), and Ruth (Mrs James Jensen, Triangle, Va). She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters and sons-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs Jessie Rine, Shenandoah, Ia. She was preceded in death by her husband Dec 16, 1935, her father and mother, six brothers and four sisters. Grandma, as she was so familiarly known, was a good Christian woman who loved her home and her loved ones and was always glad to help others as long as her health permitted. After her mother's passing a brother and sister were reared in her home, also a niece, Mrs Carl Gray, Turlock, Calif. For the past 25 years she had made her home with her daughter and husband, Mr and Mrs Johnie Clayton of Guss. She will be sadly missed by her many relatives and friends. Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 31, at the Walker Funeral home conducted by the Rev Ralph G. Allen. Music was furnished by Mrs Shirley Larson and Aletha Hutchings. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Clyde Jones, Russell Clayton, David Clayton, Gary Spring, Jerry Sparks, and Roy Graham. Burial was in Memory Cemetery.
