Mary Ellen Hockett was born in Hardin County, Iowa, December 22,1852, and died at her home in Benton township, on Monday April 17, 1899, in the morning at 4, o'clock, aged 44 years 3 months and 24 days. Read More	Mary Ellen Hockett Marshall Obituary, April 20, 1899 Again the death angel has made its visit to our community. Mary Ellen Hockett was born in Hardin County, Iowa, December 22,1852, and died at her home in Benton township, on Monday April 17, 1899, in the morning at 4, o'clock, aged 44 years 3 months and 24 days. She was married to John D. Marshall April 13, 1873. To this union three children were born, Edith Lena, Beulah Pearl and Ada Fay, all of whom are here with their father to mourn the loss of a dear faithful companion and mother who was ever ready to inconvenience herself for her husband and children. She had been sick during the winter with grip, but her condition had not been deemed serious until Friday, when she was taken worse and never rallied. She united with the M. E. Church at the age of 16, and took delight in the duties devolving upon her, in which she has been a faithful, efficient worker for Christ till she departed this life to bask in the sunshine of his presence ever more. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 11 o'clock from the M.E. Church in Benton conducted by Rev. I. M. O'Fling. The church was filled to the utmost with sympathizing friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Benton Cemetery.
