Description	:	The funeral was held Tuesday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare, for Mary Ellen Bauer, age 76, who died on Saturday, July 20th in the Kenmare hospital. During the Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. Joseph Adkins and Fr. Paul Becker served as Concelebrants, Mrs. Maureen Munch was organist and vocalists were Mrs. Dorothy Placke, Mrs. Theresa Ankenbauer and Bruce Ankenbauer. Casketbearers were James Grueneich, Jerry Bird, Leo Funk, Floyd Nelson, Alvin Hass and Leo Schmitz. Mary Ellen Homiston was born on July 23, 1908 at Bowbells, a daughter of Joseph and Bridget Homiston. She was raised in that area and attended schools there. She was married to John Fahje on Nov. 20, 1929, and he died Jan. 25, 1930. She was then married to Anton Bauer at Bowbells on Sept. 22, 1931 and they lived in Coulee for the next three years. They then moved to Burke County and farmed in the Kenmare-Bowbells area until moving into Kenmare in 1947. She was a member of St. Agnes Church and the St. Agnes Altar Society, the Lakeview Art Club of Kenmare, the Kenmare and Bowbells Senior Citizens, and was active in several various charitable organizations. She was noted for her afghan and quilt making projects for various functions as well as her arts and crafts. She and Anton celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1981.
