Claypool, resident of Spencer and Clay county for the past forty-four years, died at the Spencer Hospital Wednesday afternoon, January 4, 1928, at 5:30 o'clock, following a week's illness. Death was caused from diabetes with which she had silently suffered for five years. At the time of her death she was 68 years, 8 months and 8 days of age. Mrs. Claypool was taken to the Spencer hospital Monday evening of last week where she was attended by physicians and two special nurses. Mrs. Claypool was taken to the Spencer hospital Monday evening of last week where she was attended by physicians and two special nurses. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at two o'clock in the Grace Methodist Episcopal church of Spencer with the Dr. Herbert Clegg, pastor, officiating. Dr. Clegg chose for his sermon the text from John 10:10, "I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly," and again from John 14-19, "Because I live Ye shall live also." Mrs. V. Blaine Asher sang "That Wonderful Mother of Mine," accompanied by Mrs. C.D. Eckerman at the piano and a quartet composed of Mrs. Asher, Mrs. J.C. Rasmussen, Mrs. R.L. Cobb and Mrs. L.H. Foster, sang tow selections, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Jesus Lover of My Soul." Pall bearers were the four nephews and two cousins: Roy LaBrant, Clarence Thuirer, Leland Thuirer, Merrill Thuirer, all of Spencer, Kenneth Livingston of Spirit Lake and Charles A. Claypool of Fort Dodge. The profuse and beautiful floral tributes and the large attendance at the services attested the large number of friends enjoyed by Mrs. Claypool and their high regard and esteem for her. Members of the Womans Relief Corps and also the Sunday school class of the Methodist church of which she was a member attended the services in a body. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery. Those attending the funeral from away were C.A. Claypool of Fort Dodge and Misses Jennie and Florence Claypool of Sioux City. Mary Ellen Livingston, the youngest of six children of Mr. and Mrs. William Livingston, was born in Jo Daviess county, Illinois, April 26, 1859. On Christmas Day, 1883, she was married to Edward L. Claypool at Thompson, Illinois, coming to Clay county the same year, and residing on a farm two and on-half miles southeast of Spencer. They later moved to Spencer where they had since resided, their home being at 1397 West Fourteenth street. Had Mrs. Claypool lived until April 26, she would have been sixty-nine years of age. To the union of Mr. and Mrs. Claypool four children were born: Three daughters, Mrs. Henry Johnson, Mrs. W.C. Anderson and Miss Mabelle Claypool, all of whom live in Spencer. One son, Raymond, who died April 8, 1904, at the age of nine years, is buried in Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Claypool united with the Methodist Episcopal church when a girl and lived a consistent member up to the time of her death. She was possessed of man y estimable qualities and was loved by all who knew her. As a wife and mother, always thinking of the welfare of others, she will be greatly missed. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, three daughters, four grandchildren, Billy and June Anderson and Helen and Ruth Johnson, one sister, Mrs. Maggie Thuirer, one brother, A.J.
