To such a period belonged Mrs. Frank Mohler whose death occurred at St. Mary's hospital on Sept. 26, following a lengthy illness. During the first winter Mrs. Mohler spent here,1903-04, a period of four months went by during which she did not see a white woman. Mary Ellen Murphy was born in 1879 at Monticello, Iowa, on January 29. With her parents she went to Anthon district Iowa, as a child. Her marriage to Frank Mohler took place on Sept. 10th, 1901, at Moville, Iowa. In March of 1903 her husband came to this section of Alberta and filed on a homestead, four miles east of Round Hill, and 50 miles from the nearest trading post at Wetaskiwin. Mrs. Mohler joined him in June of that year. Seven carloads of stock and equipment had been brought up from the States, and farming was undertaken on a quite extensive scale. A capable and energetic woman, Mrs. Mohler took advantage of those favorable seasons to store up large quantities of wild fruit, and one season put up three hundred quarts of raspberries. Although there were many hardships to endure, Mrs. Mohler expressed a desire to return to this district after Mr. Mohler and herself had gone to the U.S.A. in 1910 with the thought in mind that they might stay. And so they returned to continue a happy partnership. In the fall of 1916 they left the farm to reside in Round Hill and in August, 1917, came to Camrose and purchased the residence now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Agrios. They later built up a beautiful farm place just east of the C.N.R., and resided there for four years. They then came to their present home on "College" Ave. About a year and a half ago, Mrs. Mohler's health began to fail. She sought medical aid in Vancouver, and spent two months at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., returning here on May 7th. She entered St. Mary's hospital on July 30th. Mrs. Mohler was devoted to her home and to her church. In earlier days she was an excellent and enthusiastic curler. Mrs. Mohler leaves her husband, and three sons, Emmett, Francis and Harold, and a daughter, Gladys (Mrs. Fred Duggan). Two brothers, Dan and Dennis Murphy, Sioux City, Iowa, and two sisters, Rose, Mrs. Albers of Lawton, Iowa, and Margaret, Mrs. Paul Nichols, Long Beach, Calif., are surviving members of her family. There are eight grand-children. A largely attended funeral service was held at St. francis Xavier church Monday morning. Dean P.H. Harrington officiated and was assisted by Mons.
