| Description | : | Mary Ellen Service, daughter of John and Sarah Jane [née Lockhart] Service, was born in the bounds of Goudeysville, South Carolina on her family's farm along the banks of London Creek. Her father, a native of Rashee in County Antrim, Ireland, had come to the area in 1838. Mary Ellen never married and taught school. She was a lifetime member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church.
