Description	:	Mary E. "Ellie" Schendt, 91 years, of Fremont, NE died Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Ellie was born July 21, 1926 in Mondamin, Iowa to Berle and Lucille(Doyle)Spooner. She grew up at Pisgah, Iowa and graduated from Pisgah High School. She moved to Omaha and was a graduate of the College of St. Mary's. She lived at Grand Island, NE until moving to Fremont in 1948. Ellie was born July 21, 1926 in Mondamin, Iowa to Berle and Lucille(Doyle)Spooner. She grew up at Pisgah, Iowa and graduated from Pisgah High School. Ellie taught special education in the Fremont Public Schools until retiring in 1988. Ellie married Robert W. Schendt on October 20, 1947 at Pisgah, Iowa. Robert died May 2, 2007. Ellie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and a former member of the Catholic Daughters. She is survived by sons, Ed (Nancy) Schendt of Papillion, NE, Jim (Sue) Schendt of Raleigh, N.C. and David (Brenda) Schendt of Monroe, LA; daughters, Patty (Chris) Rump of Fremont and Anne (Mike) Carlson of Greensboro, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers, Warren, Pat and Owen Spooner; sisters, Anne Polito and Joann Spooner; and daughter-in-law, Pam Schendt. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Father Ron Battiato will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends on Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM with a Rosary said at 4 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont at a later date.
