Description	:	Sioux Falls- Mary E. Johnson, 89, died Wednesday Jan. 11, 2012 in Burtonsville, MD. Services will be 10:30 am Saturday January 14th at the Plankinton (SD) United Methodist Church followed by interment in the Mizpah Cemetery at Plankinton. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday Mary E. Robertson was born February 25, 1922 on a farm near Plankinton, SD. She graduated from high school in 1939 and received her teaching certificate in 1942 from Dakota Wesleyan. Mary completed her bachelor's degree from DWU in 1942 and her MS from Northern University in 1975. Mary taught at Longfellow, Whittier, and Litchfield Schools in Mitchell from 1967-1984. She married Robert Scales on June 1, 1942 at Plankinton. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1990. She later married Esbern Johnson on February 6, 1993 in Sioux Falls. Es preceded her in death on August 22, 2003. She was a former member of the Mitchell, South Dakota, and National Education Association. She was a longtime member of the Plankinton United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the Nile, Shriners Auxiliary, and Order of the Eastern Star Lakota Chapter 30. Mary moved to Maryland in 2003 to be near her daughter. Survivors include her daughter, Sheela Stuart-Ammons, and her husband, Andrew, Silver Spring, MD; a step daughter, Jennifer Treen and her husband, Michael, Federal Way, WA; three grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Stuart, Jack (Kelly) Stuart, Lydia Treen; her great grandchildren, Madeline Stuart, Blake Stuart, James Stuart, Aubrey and Riley Stuart, and an expected newborn in June. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jim and Don Robertson
