HANS CHRISTENSEN, 77 Mary Christensen was born April 6, 1888, in Shelby County, Iowa to Andrew and Elizabeth Petersen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She lived with her parents in Troy, New York and Newell, Iowa. On March 26, 1908, she married Hans P. Christensen at Audubon, Iowa. The lived and farmed in Poplar, Iowa for nine years and were members of the Lutheran Church there until it closed in 1936. Since then they have been members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Kimballton, Iowa. In 1953 Hans and Mary moved to Harlan, Iowa where Hans died in 1958 and Mary moved to the Salem Home at Elk Horn, Iowa four years later where she died July 26, 1965, at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Leona Johnson of Harlan, Iowa; Mrs. Harold (Vernal) Henriksen and Mrs. George (Alma) Mathiasen, both of rural route Harlan, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Rose Hansen of Carroll, Iowa; one brother, George Petersen of Harlan, Iowa; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday July 29, 1965 at 2 p.m. at the Hansen Memorial Chapel in The Salem Home at Elk Horn, Iowa, the Rev. Axel M. Andersen officiating with burial in Arlington Heights Cemetery at Audubon, Iowa. Pallbearers were Virgil Mathiasen, Wilbur Frederick, Homer Rockwell, Chester Johnson, Arnold Christensen and Vernon C.
