Mae Emma Davis, daughter of Zebedee and Mary Davis, was born June 26, 1878, at Avoca, WI. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1883 and spent her girlhood days in the vicinity of Wadena. Mae Emma Davis, daughter of Zebedee and Mary Davis, was born June 26, 1878, at Avoca, WI. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1883 and spent her girlhood days in the vicinity of Wadena. She attended Upper Iowa University, Fayette, and was a graduate of Lincoln Normal School, Lincoln, NE. She taught school and piano for several years in the surrounding communities and in the Wadena Public School. Early in life she united with the Christian church and later transferred to the Presyterian church. March 26, 1902, she was united in marriage with William Whittenbaugh at Wadena where they resided until moving to Lansing in 1913. They returned to Wadena the next year and remained there until moving to Maynard in 1944. To them were born firve sons: Milo and Francis, Oelwein, Gayle, Sterling,CO. ; Clair, Birmingham, Alabama, and Faye, Wadena; and six daughters: Mrs LaVerle Thiele, Maynard, Mrs Cleo Charpier, Novato, CA. ; Mrs LaZada Moran, Omaha, NE.; Mrs Marjorie Knox, Wadena; Mrs. Mary Krivanek, Oelwein; Mrs Nellie Clemens, Omaha, NE. She was precded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Survivors are her husband, William Whittenbaugh, eleven children.; twenty grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Mabel Wells, Maquoketa, IA.; Mrs Allie Leonhart, Wadena; and two brothers; Mart Davis, Elgin, IA. and Alvah Davis, Penhold, Canada.
