Greene, 79 years and 2 months of age, and a Clay County, Iowa, resident since 1885, died Monday morning at her home, 325 East Thirteenth Street, after a week's serious illness although she had been in failing health for some time, due to the infirmities of old age. Mary Estella King, daughter of Beriah Will and Lydia M. (Thompson) King, was born November 14, 1861, in Scott Co., Iowa. Her marriage to Mallory J. Greene was an event May 22, 1878, in Scott County. Seven years after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Greene came to northwest Iowa, settling on a farm north of Everly, Iowa, where they lived until coming to Spencer, Iowa, in 1926. Mr. Greene died early in February, 1929. Following his death, Mrs. Greene continued to make her home here. She is survived by five children, nineteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. Two sons preceded their mother in death. The surviving children are William Green and Mrs. Jessie Glade of Milford, Roy Greene of Spencer, Mrs. Lillie Johnson of Sioux Rapids, and Mrs. Estella Thomas of Webb. During her long and active life Mrs. Greene was an assistant at the Methodist Church and when her health permitted, working in the various organizations of the church. Funeral services were held in the Cobb Funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev. F. Earl Burgess, pastor of Grace Methodist Church. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, Iowa.
