Dodd, were held at the Webster Funeral Home, Saturday, March 8, 1952, with Rev. David E. Mathews officiating. Burial was by the side of her husband in Field cemetery northwest of Osceola near Prairie Grove. She was the seventh of eight daughters of Samuel and Mary Porter and was born in Patterson, Iowa, October 14, 1869. When she was eight years old the family moved to Prairie Grove in Washington Township and it was here she spent most of her life. On Thanksgiving day, 1891, she was married to Charles E. Dodd of Prairie Grove and remained in that neighborhood until a few years ago when they retired and came to Osceola. Her husband died in November, 1949. Three sons and on daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dodd, all of whom survive their parents. They are: George W. of Newton, Wanda (Mrs. C. R. Teller) of Osceola, Robert M. of Cedar Rapids, and Charles of Camdenton. Mo. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Rose Shenton of Perry, Iowa; 11 grandchildren' two step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren' two step great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Dodd was a member of the Christian church in Osceola and was a active worker in the church as long as her health permitted. For many years she was actively associated with the Women's Christian Temperance Union and was honored by that organization through numerous offices. For three- fourths of a century Mrs. Dodd has been an exemplary girl, wife, mother and grandmother and bequeaths to her children and children's children a memory rich in kindness, understanding and Christian living.
