She was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Ottumwa to George and Hattie Eaves Short. She married Pearlie I. "Dave" Davis Dec. 21, 1946, in Troy, Kan. He died Feb. 22 [sic], 1996. She had worked at John Deere and then in the sausage and slice bacon departments of John Morrell & Co. She also worked at Quick Shop on Madison Street, retiring in 1990. She is survived by a son, David Davis of St. Peters, Mo.; two daughters, Stephanie Heiser of Cedar Rapids, Melinda Pilcher of Burlington; five grandchildren; five brothers, Donald, George, Jack and Robert Short, all of Ottumwa and Joe Short of Abingdon, Ill.; and two sisters, Lois Brewer and Dixie Miller, both of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Patty Short, Beatrice Schultz and Dorothy Jones. The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Alexander-Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. James Pickens officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel with family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bob and Evan Jones, Sean and Aaron Fuller, Rick Miller and Pat Short. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Manley, George Fuller, Angie Short and Jim Parker.
