Description	:	Mrs. Jean Brown Smith, 83, of Salisbury passed away November 26, 2010 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks. Jean was born October 31, 1927 in Salisbury to the late Jesse O. Brown, Sr. and Ola Sue Porter Brown. She was a graduate of Boyden High School and the Class of 1949 of Catawba College. She received her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Appalachian University in 1976. Mrs. Smith taught School in Salisbury for thirty three years in primary education. Read More	Mrs. Jean Brown Smith, 83, of Salisbury passed away November 26, 2010 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks. Jean was born October 31, 1927 in Salisbury to the late Jesse O. Brown, Sr. and Ola Sue Porter Brown. She was a graduate of Boyden High School and the Class of 1949 of Catawba College. She received her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Appalachian University in 1976. Mrs. Smith taught School in Salisbury for thirty three years in primary education. She served as secretary/treasure of the NCEA. She was a life time member of the first Baptist Church, she worked with the youth choir and the children's choir and was a member of the church choir and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Jean was predeceased by her loving sister, Doris Brown Ralston of Charlotte, NC. Those left to cherish her memory two sons; James Edward Smith of Charlotte and Randy Keith Smith of Salisbury, two brothers; Earl Porter Brown of Salisbury and Jesse Oscar Brown Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, and four grandchildren. She had a special love for her nieces and nephews who continued to support her throughout her life. A graveside service will be held at the family plot in Chestnut Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM, Monday with the Rev. Dr. C. Kenneth Lance officiating, the family will see friends following the service.
