Description	:	Mrs. Mary Evelyn King, 63, a former resident of Harrisonburg and a native of Rockbridge County, died Saturday evening at 6:30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lacy Dunmore at Verona where she had been residing for the past four weeks. In failing health for the past year, Mrs. King had been bedfast since September. Read More	Mrs. Mary Evelyn King, 63, a former resident of Harrisonburg and a native of Rockbridge County, died Saturday evening at 6:30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lacy Dunmore at Verona where she had been residing for the past four weeks. In failing health for the past year, Mrs. King had been bedfast since September. Although her condition became worse Friday, she seemed much better Saturday and her unexpected death that evening from a heart attack came as a shock to both her family and many friends throughout the community. A daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen Ford Barger, she was born on March 27, 1887, near Buena Vista, in Rockbridge County where she spent the early part of her life. Mrs. King had made her home at Verona for five years and resided at Winchester for two years prior to moving to Harrisonburg twenty years ago. While a resident of Harrisonburg she had made her home at 201 Broad St. for a period of twelve years. In January of this year, she moved to Waynesboro where she made her home with her son, Charles Thomas King until four weeks ago when she moved to the home of her daughter at Verona. Mrs. King was a good mother, kind neighbor and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Harrisonburg Evangelical United Brethren Church. She is survived by four children. Mrs. Lacy (Mary Ellen) Dunsmore, Verona; William H. King and Mrs. Grayson (Louise) Moyers, both of Harrisonburg and Charles Thomas King, Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Gloria Kay King, Harrisonburg; Charles Thomas King II, Waynesboro; Charles Taylor Dunsmore, Donald King Dunsmore, Wade Gaston Dunsmore and Mrs. James Sheets, all of Verona; two great-grandchildren, Steve Vernon Sheets and Terry Taylor Dunsmore; four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Campbell, Middlebrook; Mrs. Bud Lewis and . Mattie Watts, both of Natural Bridge, and Mrs. Earl Williams, Beckley, West Virginia; two brothers. Oliver Barger, Silver Spring, Maryland and Thomas Barger, Buena Vista. Four sisters; Mrs. Tom Grove, Mrs. Oscar Pattie, Mrs. Howard Wilson Miller and Mrs. Clarence Watts, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the Lindsey Funeral Home on South Street, Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, with the Rev. David P. Glovier in charge of the services, assisted by the Rev. B. L. Brill. Burial will be in the family lot in Woodbine Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: J. R. Dunsmore, George Steele, Cecil Wilkerson, John Grow, Ralph Snyder and Ernest Lambert.. The body now rests at the Lindsey Funeral Home where relatives, friends and pallbearers are asked to meet Tuesday afternoon at one-forty-five o'clock.
