CLINTON — Mary F. Behr, 88, of Clinton, died Sunday at Wyndcrest Nursing Home in Clinton. She donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Association in Chicago. She was born on May 22, 1919, in New Hampton to William and Clara Luedtke Timmer. She married Bill Stevens in 1944 in Preston; he died in 1958. She later married Leo Behr in 1964 in Clinton; he died in 1987. She was educated in Preston schools. She graduated from the Beauty Academy in Dubuque. She operated Timmer’s Beauty Salon, Preston, with her sister Rita. In later years, she was a caregiver and homemaker. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish. She also volunteered more than 5,000 hours at Wyndcrest Nursing Home. She also did volunteer work for the church, Mobile Meals and the Clinton Humane Society. Survivors include three stepdaughters, Dorothy (Rex) Sanger of Maquoketa, Jeanne (Max) Cree of Clinton and Barbara (Frank) Lippens of DeWitt; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Timmer of Camanche; three sisters, Clara Timmer of Camanche, and Delores Eisenbeis and Rita Timmer, both of Clinton. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or the Clinton Humane Society. She was preceded in death by parents, both husbands, one stepson, one stepgrandchild, three brothers and three sisters.
