GILBERT Mrs. Mary Fern Gilbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Aimers, was born at Thorpe, Iowa, Feb. 9. 1894, and departed this life at her late home in Dundee about half past five o'clock Wednesday evening, November 7th, 1915. For a number of years she had been a patient sufferer, having twice submitted to surgical operations for appendicitis and again last spring she was critically ill and her life was despaired of, but she seemed to have fully recovered and was apparently in usual health and the community was greatly surprised and shocked to learn last Wednesday evening that upon returning home from his place of business to supper Mr. Gilbert had found his young wife fallen to the floor in their home and before aid could reach her she had passed from this world. The cause of death was heart failure. She remained upon earth but twenty - one years, nine months and eight days. Fifteen years ago last spring, she, with her parents and family came to make their home in Dundee. On Sept. 1st 1914, she gave her hand in marriage to Mr. Samuel P. Gilbert, with whom she lived happily until death took her from his home leaving him sad and lonely. Funeral services were held from the Dundee Wesleyan Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. R. Wesley Mack, assisted by the Rev. C. S. Weigel, appropriate music being rendered by the Lutheran church choir. The large attendance of sorrowing friends and the beautiful floral tributes attested the high esteem in which she was held. Having for several years been an operator in the local telephone office she was widely known and by her pleasant manner and cheerful disposition, had won to herself many devoted friends. Besides her husband and parents, she leaves to mourn her early departure five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Duncan, Manchester, Iowa; Mrs. Blanche Jones, Walker, Mrs. Hazel Slick, New Hampton, Ia.; Eva and Floy and two brothers, Ellis and Francis, who yet remain in the parents home. Besides the above named, other relatives and friends mourn their sad loss. Her body was laid to rest in Spring Hill cemetery to await the final resurrection.
