Description	:	Mary Ferri Isernio, 93, of Yakima, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Hillcrest Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born May 20, 1915, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Angelo and Serafina Ferri. Read More	Mary Ferri Isernio, 93, of Yakima, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Hillcrest Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born May 20, 1915, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Angelo and Serafina Ferri. Shortly after her birth, she moved with her family from the east coast to Seattle, where her father was employed in the shoe repair department of Frederick & Nelson when they were located on Second Avenue. In 1920 the family moved to Yakima and Mr. Ferri opened his own shoe repair shop known as Yakima Shoe Repair on south Third Street, next to the Capitol Theatre. Mary attended school at St. Joseph Academy from first grade through high school, graduating in 1932. She continued her education at Yakima Business College, graduating in 1933. In 1937 she was employed by George Kennard, State Director for State Farm Insurance. She left Yakima in 1947 to marry her fiance, John Isernio of Seattle. She made her home in Seattle until July 2001 when she returned to Yakima to be close to her caring and loving family. While in Seattle, Mary was employed by the Boeing Company in the Personnel Department in 1947 and worked for many other companies until her retirement in 1973. Shortly after her retirement, her husband, John Isernio passed away, and Mary rejoined the business field in 1974 and was hired by Seattle Metro Transit where she worked in the capacity of secretary in the Marketing Division until her retirement in 1991. Mary was a member of St. George Catholic Church and President of St. Anthony Guild in Seattle. She was instrumental in arranging for the Guild to travel to Olympia as special guest of then Governor Albert Rosellini. She was a member of the Italian Club and the Westside Civic Club, both in Seattle. In Yakima, she attended St. Paul Cathedral. Mary is survived by two nieces, Beverly Rose Arralde, and Mary Kay (Jamil) Anabtawi , both of Yakima; and four nephews, Albert (Kay) Maletta Jr. of Yakima, Michael (Elaine) Ferri of Marvsville, John ( Kathy) Ferri of Yakima and Tony (Brenda) Ferri of Seattle, her brother-in-law, Albert Maletta, Sr. of Yakima, and numerous great nephews and nieces. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Serafina Ferri, her husband John Isernio, her sisters, Rose Ferri and Yolanda Maletta, and her brother Sam Ferri. Mary was a gifted and talented person in the arts. She was a gourmet cook, made dishes not found in Italian restaurants and did elegant entertaining. She was a lovely and gracious lady and was always there for anyone in need. She was the love and joy of the family and will be missed by everyone who knew her. A Vigil Service will be at 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008, at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008, in the Chapel of St. Paul Cathedral. Private family committal services will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Seattle on Wednesday. Mary's family would like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Assisted Living for the loving care they provided to "Aunty Mary" while she lived there. They would also like to thank the staff of Yakima Regional Hospice for their care and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Yakima Regional Hospice, The American Heart Association of Washington or to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
