Read More	"OBITUARY Kossuth County Advance › 21 March 1946 › Page 2 - TRIBUTE TO A LOVED WOMAN AT WHITTEMORE Whittemore', Mar. 15 — One of Whitlemove's best-loved mothers died at her home southwest, of town Mar. 8. She was Mrs. 'Mary Foley, a woman of high principles and ideals, a real gentlewoman who reared a splendid family, Not only was she 'held in high regard by her own, but by the community. She had a rare sense of humor and a winning independence that made her many friends. Mrs. Foley, who was 81, was born in County Cat-low, Ireland, March 18, 1865, and in October, 1892, came to America. On Feb. 26, 1895 she was married to James Foley, and they started farming at Rantoul, 111., but in 1907 -moved to Ralston, Iowa. They purchased the present home farm here in 1913. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Foley: Frank, Dan, and Josie, Whittemore; Fr. J.. Foley, S. J.. principal of Marquettc university high school, Milwaukee; Sr. Mary Dorothea (Anna), Sioux- City; Sr. Mary' Cecilia (Agnes), Detroit, both nuns are of the Servants of Mary convent; Dr. James Folsy, Portland, Ore. All the children attended the funeral except Doctor Foley who Was unable to ccme because of the death of a two-day old sort Joseph Patrick, buried March 9 at Portland. Five grandchidlren also survive. Mr. Foley died Dec. 21, 1923. [1925. Cherie J.], The funeral was held at St. Michael's church, of which Mrs. Foley 'had been a devoled member. The Rev. John Foley, S. J., was celebrant of solemn high mass; Fr. J. Hyland, Manila, deacon; the Rev. Wm. Veit, pastor, sub-deacon; Fr. John Cullen, master of ceremonies. Fr. Wm. Hyland, Ayrshire, was also in attendance. The service was held Mar. 11 at 9:30 a. m., and burial was made in the local Catholic cemetery. Pall-bearers were Edward Farrell. Fdmund O'Brien, Frank Burke. Frank Eisele, George Fandel, Simon Elberl."
