Description	:	Mary Frances Faris, 91, of Hillsboro, passed away on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Heartland of Hillsboro. She was born in McAlester, Okla. on Jan. 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Paul B. and Darthula "Dot" (Williams) Quesenbury. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. "Dick" Faris, on Nov. 4, 1979; and a brother, Quentin Quesenbury. She married the love of her life, Richard Faris on May 23, 1941. She was born in McAlester, Okla. on Jan. 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Paul B. and Darthula "Dot" (Williams) Quesenbury. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. "Dick" Faris, on Nov. 4, 1979; and a brother, Quentin Quesenbury. She married the love of her life, Richard Faris on May 23, 1941. After graduating from Eastern Oklahoma A&M University in 1942, she began working at Beech Aircraft Corporation in support of the War Manpower Commission. Years later, after moving to Hillsboro, she received her teaching degree from the University of Cincinnati and began a highly respected teaching career at the Hillsboro Elementary School system that spanned nearly 30 years. Recognized as an outstanding teacher of reading, she continued to tutor young students well into her 70s. Mary Frances was always very proud of her Native American Choctaw heritage. She enjoyed knitting scarfs for Indian schools and members of the military. Her other hobbies included gardening and collecting antiques, Indian dolls, and Steiff stuffed animals. She loved all animals, especially her own dogs and cats which quickly became "members of the family." She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, Emblem Club, Order of Eastern Star and Phi Delta Kappa, among others. She is survived by her two sons; two grandchildren; step-two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren of Wilmington; two step-great grandchildren and three nieces and special friends, Cheryl of Corbin, Ky. and Max of Roswell, Ga. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
