Description	:	Frances Simpson Motes, 83, of St. Stephen, SC, died Saturday morning in a local nursing home. Her funeral will be 4:00 PM Tuesday afternoon, May 1, 2018, in the Christian Outreach Ministries. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Mrs. Motes was born June 10, 1934, in Abbeville, SC, a daughter of Mack Hunter Simpson and Corrie Black Simpson. She was a member of the Christian Outreach Ministries where she was a former Sunday school teacher. As a minister's wife, she dedicated much of her time to the churches which they served and to helping people in all walks of life. Mrs. Motes enjoyed fishing and vegetable gardening, and was a former employee of the Shirt Master in Abbeville. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Argo, and two brothers, Preston Chalmers Simpson and Hunter Simpson. Mrs. Motes was the widow of Rev. E.A. Motes, Jr., to whom she was married for 43 years. Surviving are, a daughter, Debra M. McMakin and her husband, Mike, of St. Stephen; a son, E. Jewayne Motes of Reno, NV; two sisters, Dorothy S. Argo and Henrietta S. Timms both of Abbeville; two brothers, Marion Simpson and J.W. Simpson both of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
