Description	:	Mary Herrick was born to parents, Emma and Jack Hardman on April 3, 1917, in Hillyard, WA, the sixth of eight children. The family lived in Leavenworth, before settling in Wenatchee. Mary attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Wenatchee High School. Mary married R. C. "Curly" Herrick in 1938. They raised two daughters and spent all of their married life in the Wenatchee Valley, until his death in March 1993. Read More	Mary Herrick was born to parents, Emma and Jack Hardman on April 3, 1917, in Hillyard, WA, the sixth of eight children. The family lived in Leavenworth, before settling in Wenatchee. Mary attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Wenatchee High School. Mary married R. C. "Curly" Herrick in 1938. They raised two daughters and spent all of their married life in the Wenatchee Valley, until his death in March 1993. Mary moved to Spokane Valley in June of 1993, where she lived until her death April 27, 2008. Mary liked being a homemaker and made the most of her homemaking skills. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing most of the clothes that her young girls wore, as well as later making many clothes for her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and loved to see someone enjoy the meals that she prepared. She always had large family gatherings at Christmas, Thanksgiving and during the year, always involving everyone in doing their part to prepare the meal. Mary spent many hours knitting and crocheting sweaters and afghans for family and friends. No new baby in the family ever went without a blanket from Mary, as long as her sight remained, to do the work. Her greatest pleasure was having her five grandchildren visit. She loved to care for them and as they grew up, she would spend many hours playing card games, especially crazy eights. She always had chocolate chip cookies ready for the grandchildren when they came to visit. Mary had a small circle of lady friends called the Birthday Club. They met monthly for many years and formed life-long friendships. She also volunteered for the Red Cross blood draws for many years. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Curly; four sisters; and two brothers. Mary is survived by her sister, Mabel (Ernie) Story of East Wenatchee; sister-in-law, Dorothy Albert of Bainbridge Island; daughter, Janet (David) Rogers of Cashmere; grandchildren, Dan, Chris and Tim; daughter, Judy (Jon) Scott of Spokane Valley; grandchildren, Sean and Shannon; eight great-grandchildren; eight nieces; and two nephews. Mary was laid to rest April 30, 2008, at the Wenatchee City Cemetery. Mary Herrick, 91, of Spokane Valley, died Tuesday, April 27, 2008. She had lived in Wenatchee for 76 years and later moved to Spokane Valley. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her children, Janet Rogers of Cashmere and Judy Scott of Spokane Valley; and her sister, Mabel Story of East Wenatchee. A private burial was held Wednesday. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Jones and Jones-Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
