He married Oct 10, 1779 to Frances Glasscock the step daughter of Henry Rector. He later moved to Fleming Co, Kentucky with Burtis Ringo whose wife Hannah Rector, was a cousin of Frances. Ringo also served in the 10th regiment. Frances mother was Mary Henren who married 1st. November 28, 1759 to John Glasscock. Joseph was 24 years old, married with two children when they settled in Ohio County, Va (now WV). Later they moved on to Kentucky. His father John relocated his family from Fauquier County Va, in about 1785. They first aimed to settle in the Northwest Territory in what is now Harrison Co. Ohio. Ejected from there as squatters by the U. S. Army, they settled or were resettled in Ohio and Brooks counties of VA (WV). They lived there about 10 years, until 1795, when John Sr. and Mary moved to Fleming County, Kentucky. Joseph and John seem to have owned land ajacent to each other in many locations. Moore: Gore, This Loudoun Co., Va. family is the more numerous of the two families by that name in Nelson Co., both of which lived in or near Bloomfield. The first member of this family who can be identified with certainty is Joshua Gore, died 1785, Loudoun Co., Va. (Will Book C, p. 150). His first marriage was to probably to Elizabeth Clowes or Clews of a Quaker family. Her father was Thomas Clowes/Clews/Close, born ca. 1707, died 7 Aug. 1784, Loudoun Co., Va. (Will Book C, p. 84), married 4 Oct. 1728, Falls Meeting, Bucks Co., Pa., Christian Palmer, daughter of John Palmer and Christian . Joshua Gore married (2) Mrs. Mary (Glasscock) Rector, born 30 July 1734, died before 1820 (will was written 28 Sept. l813), Fauquier Co., Va., daughter of John Glasscock of Fauquier Co., Va., died ca. 1784, and Margaret O'Rear. Mary was the widow of another John Glasscock and of Harry Rector [Richter]. Joshua Gore was on the Loudoun Co. tithable list of 1765. That Hannah was probably their oldest child is indicated in a three-lives lease from John Tayloe of Richmond Co., Va. to Joshua, Elizabeth, and Hannah on 10 Aug. 1758 (Loudoun Co. Deed Book A, p. 229). There.is a similar deed between these two parties in Loudoun Deed Book E, p. 138. Joshua's son Jonathan married his step-sister Margaret Rector, and another son, Henry married Ann Glasscock, daughter of Micajah Glasscock and Catherine Rector. Their sister Charlotte married into the Marshall family of Fairfield, noted as furniture makers. The Gores also had ties with the northeasten Nelson Co. families of McKay, Duncan and Bodine. There is a Gore cemetery in the country outside Fairfield. Jonathan Gore, b. 7 June 1766, Loudoun Co., Va., d. 1 Sept 1849, Nelson Co., Ky. (will written 22 May 1848, prob. 10 Sept. 1849), son of Joshua Gore, m. (l) Margaret Rector, b. 10 March 1770, probably Fauquier Co., Va., d. 7 Jan. 1833, Nelson Co., Ky., (2) Rebecca Leach, b. 5 Jan. 1783, d. 10 March 1856. Margaret Rector Gore was the daughter of Jonathan's stepmother Mary Glasscock, by Henry ("Harry") Rector. A good deal of research has been done and published on both the Glasscock and Rector families. Henry Rector Was the son of John Rector and Anna Catherine Fishback. John Rector's will, written 5 Nov. 1772, proved 22 March 1773, is in Fauquier Co. Will Book 1, pp. 205-7. Margaret Rector Gore had a sister Catherine Rector who m. Micajah Glasscock of Nelson Co., Ky. Jonathan and both his wives are buried in the Gore-Glasscock cem, near Fairfield, Nelson Co., Ky. (In 1992 this graveyard was on the farm of Harold Moran, who has reset the stones.) It is located about 3.5 miles from Fairfield on Murray's Run Road.) MARY WAS NOT THE DAUGHTER OF JOHN GLASCOCK AND MARGARET O'REAR SHE WAS MARRIED TO THEIR SON JOHN. AFTER HE DIED SHE MARRIED HENRY RECTOR, AND WHEN HE DIED SHE MARRIED JOSHUA GORE LOUDOUN CO. VA. AND HENRY RECTOR WAS NOT THE SON OF ANNA CATHERINE FISHBACK, HE WAS THE SON OF CATHERINE TAYLOR ROBINSON RECTOR, JOHN RECTOR'S 2ND WIFE.
