Description	:	Mrs. Mary J. Sargent,one of Milo's aged and most respected ladies, died Tuesday evening after a brief illness with pneumonia, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Charles H. West. The deceased was about 78 years of age at the time of her demise, and was the widow of Joseph L. Sargent, who was one of the towns most prominent citizens, and the family is one of the oldest in the place; his father having settled here in the early days of the town. Sargent,one of Milo's aged and most respected ladies, died Tuesday evening after a brief illness with pneumonia, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Charles H. West. The deceased was about 78 years of age at the time of her demise, and was the widow of Joseph L. Sargent, who was one of the towns most prominent citizens, and the family is one of the oldest in the place; his father having settled here in the early days of the town. In the early part of her life Mrs. Sargent lived very happily and the memory of those days proved a consolation in the trying hours of later days, when one by one a large family of children, and her husband passed away, leaving the old homestead desolate for the sorrowing wife and mother, but with bravery she faced the inevitable, knowing that the ways of God are past human understanding, and with a realization that in a little while she would be called to join the loved ones gone before. A noble, true hearted woman has passed into the higher life, and though there were many who would wish her back, still 'tis perhaps better that the worn and tired spirit should enter into the haven of blissful rest. Funeral services were held Thursday at the residence of Charles H. West, where the deceased had been living for several months. Rev. Dayton E. McLean, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was made in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. The deceased is survived by a number of grandchildren, Mrs. W. H. Monroe of Brownville, Mrs. Gilbert Tolman of Waterville, Clarence G. Gould and Edward L. Sargent and Mrs. Charles H. West of this town, and the sympathy of the entire community is extended them in their bereavement. The Piscataquis Observer
