MARY TIMM KILLED IN WRECK Holyoke Woman Fatally Injured When Automobile Skids Off Road Mrs. Mary Timm, aged Holyoke resident, was killed yesterday afternoon when the automobile in which she was riding skidded on the highway and overturned into the ditch. The accident occurred about 2 o'clock on highway No. 6 near Fleming. As the machine neared a curve, it skidded on the pavement which had been put into a hazardous condition by the snow. The machine overturned into the ditch, pinning its occupants beneath it. Mrs. Timm died a few minutes following the accident. She was taken to the Mooney hospital in Haxtun, but her injuries were such that they proved fatal. With Mrs. Timm were her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Windell. Mrs. Wendell, who was driving the car, sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the Haxtun hospital. No arrangements for the funeral have been made. The body of Mrs. Timm was brought to the Colver Brothers Funeral Home immediately following the accident. Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, November 28, 1940 RITES CONDUCTED FOR AGED WOMAN Service Held At Lutheran Church For Mrs. Mary J. Timm Final rites were conducted Monday afternoon in Holyoke for Mrs. Mary J. Timm, aged Holyoke resident, who died Wednesday afternoon, November 20, her death resulting from injuries and shock sustained in an automobile accident near Fleming. Prayer was read at the Colver Brothers Funeral Home at 1:45 o'clock and service was held at the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the pastor Rev. R. Einspahr officiating. Burial was made in the Holyoke cemetery. The pallbearers were Ernest Roth, Emil Heermann, Walter L. Sagehorn, E.L. Lipker, Rudolph Heermann and A.E. Rehfeld. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chester A. Wikle* of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Attorney Frank Timm of Baudette, Minnesota, Fred Timm of Esmond, South Dakota and Mrs. Annie Timm of Manchester, South Dakota. The accident, in which Mrs. Timm and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wendell* were injured last Wednesday, occurred at 2 o'clock on Highway No. 6 one mile east of Fleming. The Holyoke people were enroute to Sterling at the time. The automobile, a light coupe which was being driven by Mr. Wendell, struck ice on the pavement, skidded and left the road and overturned in to the borrow pit. Mrs. Timm, a sufferer of a heart ailment for many years, sustained a skull fracture and other facial and head cuts and bruises in the accident. She died almost instantly. Her daughter received bodily bruises and a slight brain concussion, while Mr. Wendell suffered several fractured ribs. The injured people were taken to the Haxtun hospital by a passing motorist. Mary J. Ladwig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ladwig, was born April 10, 1860 in Pomerania, Germany. At the time of her death she was 80 years, seven months and ten days old. She immigrated to America with her parents in 1871 and located at Chicago, Illinois where she made her home for a period of ten years. The marriage of Miss Ladwig to Fredrick A. Timm was solemnized December 22, 1881. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Timm resided in Davis Junction, Illinois several years, moving later to Esmond, South Dakota where they established a home and resided 30 years. In 1913 Mr. and Mrs. Timm moved to Phillips County and located on a farm near Amherst. After farming for a number of years, they retired and moved to Holyoke. Surviving are four sons, Edward and John Timm of Amherst, Fred Timm of Esmond, South Dakota and Attorney Frank Timm of Baudette, Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. Chester A. Kikle* of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Mrs. Charles Wendell* of Holyoke; 13 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were three children and her husband, who died November 21, 1936. She was the last surviving member of the original Ladwig family of seven children. * Unknown if correct spellings are Wendell or Windell, Kikle or Wikle, or if it was the daughter or son-in-law driving.
