Oviatt passed away at her home in Clarence Saturday morning. She was nearly 78 years of age and was of the best ladies of Clarence She came with her parents from Virginia when she was a small girl, to Monroe County, and from there to Shelby county, which, has been her home ever since. She united with the Baptist church in her earlier years, when a girl and has lived a consistent Christian life ever since. The funeral services were held in her church, Sunday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. T. L. Roberts, and attended by a very large congregation, after which the remains were laid to rest in Maplewood cemetery. She leaves but one brother, B. P. Rutledge, who is the last of eleven children, and with whom she had for many years made her home. Oviatt died at the home of her brother, B. P. Rutledge. of Clarence, Saturday, September 30 (sic), aged 78 years. She died of pneumonia and was sick about five days. She was a native of Virginia and came with her parents to Monroe county when a small child. The greater part of her life was spent in Clarence. She was a good woman and was held in high esteem by all. The burial was in the cemetery at Clarence Sunday.
