She was born on September 14, 1926 in Monon, IN to the late Harry Chris Christensen and Lulu Bessie (Helfrich) Christensen. On June 26, 1953 in Monon, IN, she married William R. "Bill" Baker; he passed away on December 15, 2003. Mary had lived in the Monticello area most of her life. Growing up, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monon. After she and Bill married, they moved to Monticello and became members of the Monticello Christian Church. Mary enjoyed going on fishing trip with her husband and going site-seeing. She loved and adored all of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary loved playing basketball in the driveway with her grandchildren and all the neighborhood kids. She was known for dancing in the kitchen, playing the marble game, and every Sunday, she played cards with her late brother Don, sister Lou, and friend Bernita. Mary is survived by two children; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Maurice William Baker; one infant grandson, Maurice Corey Baker; and six siblings - James Christensen, Lulu Lesley, Elizabeth Spencer, George Christensen, Robert Christensen and Donald Christensen. A gathering of family and friends to share memories will follow the graveside service at the Monticello Christian Church 105 Gordon Road, Monticello, IN 47960 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Rev. Benji Riddle of the Monticello Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery in Monon, IN.
