Oplotnik, 93, of Greenbush, died at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 6, 2011 in the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard where she entered February 17, 2007. She was born September 22, 1917 at Arma, a daughter of Frank and Mary Frances Kuhel. She grew up and attended schools in Arma. She married William Oplotnik in 1935 at Lamar, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1998. They lived at Greenbush and she worked as a cook in the Greenbush School and later in the Girard School before retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Girard and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed her family, cooking, baking, and home canning. Survivors include a son, William Oplotnik, of Girard; a brother, Joe Kuhel of Arma; a sister, Rose Marie Murnane of Girard; her grandchildren Brenda Winder and Steve of Erie, Bart Wellington of Erie, and Blake Wellington and Cindy of Erie; her great-grandchildren are Sloan and Parker Winder. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Rose Wellington, in 1989, and her brothers Frank and Tony Kuhel. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Girard with Fr. Lawrence Carney as celebrant. Burial will be in the Greenbush Cemetery. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Daughters of Isabella and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
