BENTHIN Funeral services for Mrs. Mary McKim, 82, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Allen, in Milford township, early Thursday, will be held at the family home 708 Seventh street, Saturday afternoon at 3:00. Interment will follow in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband who died about 8 years ago. The service will be in charge of W. O. Benthin, pastor of Central Presbyterian church, while Mrs. E. E. Martin will sing, using the old hymns of which Mrs. McKim was a lover. Mary Jane Logan was born at Lomax, Ill., on April 14, 1850. On January 30, 1870, she was united in marriage with Lafayette McKim who preceded her in death on January 28, 1924. Immediately after their marriage, she and her husband came to Iowa, settling on a farm about four miles north of Nevada, Iowa, and there for forty-one years they maintained the home they established, enduring the hardships of early pioneer life and later enjoying the larger happinesses which came with the advancing settlement. They then purchased a plat in Nevada, upon which they built the house now standing at the corner of Seventh street and G avenue. Here they lived together until the death of her husband, and from this home her funeral will take place. Early in life she became a christian and through long years, maintained her quiet faith in Christian principles. For many years she has been a member of the Central Presbyterian church in Nevada, and while failing health prevented her from taking a prominent part in its activities, she was consistent in her loyalty to and support of that organization. She was a charter member of the Milford club and was always interested in its social life and activities. She became a member of the Order of Eastern Star, forming her associations therewith while at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. G. Brown, at Whiting, Iowa. She was greatly interested in her association with a group of ladies at Whiting, known as the "L. L. Club" and she found great pleasure in associations therewith. Mrs. McKim passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Allen at three o'clock Thursday morning and was brought from there to her home in this city from which her funeral will occur. Of her immediate family, the two [daughters born of her marriage are still living, Mrs. W. G. Brown of] Whiting, Iowa and Mrs. Frank Allen of Nevada, Iowa. Of a family of ten, there survive her one sister and three brothers. Eight grandchildren are also left to remember her in kindness and she was accorded the privilege of becoming four time a great-grandmother.
