This is the obituary and there is other information as she applied for a pension following her husband's death: OBITUARY Mary J. McFarland was born in Philedelphia, Penn., April 27th, 1851, where she lived until she was fourteen years of age, when she moved with her parents to Iowa. She was married July 11th, 1867 to W. H. Gibson, who preceded her in death 18 months. Mrs. T. J. Shafer of this place, Edgar W., Allison, Mrs. E. A. Patton of Bristow, and Harry G. of Allison are left to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted mother. She was converted in 1869 and joined the M. E. church of which she remained a member until it was abandoned. She then joined the U. B. church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. Six years ago, she, with her husband, moved to Dumont where she lived until a few weeks before her death, caused by a concerous tumor. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. J. Shafer, Nov. 30, and was buried here Dec. 2, 1908. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. V. A. Carleton of Rowan. Farewell, dear mother, sweet thy rest, weary with years and worn with pain farewell, till in some happy place we shall behold thy face again.
