Died at age 79 years, 4 days. ================================= OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) Mrs. Mary Jane Rousey Beghtel was born December 25, 1846, in Stark County, Ohio and came to her demise September 28, 1925, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Mabel Miller Baker at Urbana, Indiana. Hers was a long pilgrimage. She was blessed with many years and with the pleasure of seeing all her children grow to manhood and womanhood. She was the daughter of Henry Rousey and Maleatha Crouch Rousey. In the year 1864, she was married to Jacob Beghtel. Shortly after marriage she came with her husband to Urbana and here she spent the remainder of her life. This marriage was blessed with the following children. Mrs. May Beghtel Bradley of Peru, Indiana, James Beghtel, deceased, Monson Beghtel of Urbana, Mrs. Myrtle Beghtel (Edward) Kratzer of Urbana, Mrs. Osa Beghtel Miller, deceased, Mrs. Edith Beghtel (Homer) Smith of Andrews and Mrs. Lulu Beghtel (Ralph) Oliver of Urbana. Besides the children there are 13 grandchildren. Death came first into the family February, 1902 when James Beghtel, the oldest son died. In January, 1906, Mrs. Osa Beghtel Miller, a daughter passed away. And in March, 1912 the husband Jacob Beghtel was called to his reward. The rest of the family are present to mourn the loss of Mother. Mrs. Beghtel was converted under the ministry of Rev. M. L. Shidler. She then became a member of the Grace Evangelical Church of Urbana and remained a member as long as she lived. "Grandma Beghtel," as we love to call her, was a woman of thrift and industry. She was unassuming and retiring in her character and did not care for show or special attention. She was greatly devoted to her children and especially to her granddaughter with whom she made her home. Sermon by C. E. Geist. Subject "The Shepherd in the Shadow" Psalms 23:4.
