Description	:	Mrs. Mary J. Cline, one of the most highly esteemed pioneer settlers of Pilot Mound Township, passed away at her home near Pilot Mound Saturday, December 28th, after a brief illness. Mary J. Spickelmire was born in Hendricks county, Indiana, September 24th 1841, and was in her sixty fifth year at the time of her death. She came with her parents to Iowa when a young girl and was united in marriage with Abraham M. Cline September 25th 1866, and has made her home in Boone county ever since. Cline, one of the most highly esteemed pioneer settlers of Pilot Mound Township, passed away at her home near Pilot Mound Saturday, December 28th, after a brief illness. Mary J. Spickelmire was born in Hendricks county, Indiana, September 24th 1841, and was in her sixty fifth year at the time of her death. She came with her parents to Iowa when a young girl and was united in marriage with Abraham M. Cline September 25th 1866, and has made her home in Boone county ever since. To this union were born fifteen children, ten of whom with the husband have preceded her to the better world. She united with the Baptist church at Pilot Mound twelve years ago and has since lived an earnest, devoted Christian life. A devoted wife and mother, a faithful friend and generous neighbor, she endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact and her death will be realty regretted by the entire community. She leaves to mourn her death one brother, one sister, five children and a number of grandchildren, to whom is extended the sincere sympathy of a host of sorrowing friends. The funeral services were held from the Baptist church at Pilot Mound Sunday, December 29th, conducted by the Rev. Carroll of Ft. Dodge, burial in the Bluff Creek cemetery. The children present were Miss Ella Cline, and Mrs. Somer of Pilot Mound, Mrs. Mary Lichleiter of Des Moines, and the Rev. C.N. Cline of Oklahoma. Boone County Democrat January 19, 1906
