Mary Ecklor was born on April 26, 1931, the daughter of Cloid and Ila Mae (Jensen) Stinson of rural LeGrand, Iowa. In 1934, after the death of her parents, she was adopted by Charles and and Mary (Fleager) Kale of Beaman, Iowa. where she was raised. On October 22, 1950, Mary married Donald Leo Emerson. They were the parents of four children. On May 22, 1965, she married Donald Eugene Ecklor, with whom she had two children and two step children. She was a wonderful mother to all eight children, selfless and loving, leaving an endearing legacy to be passed down. Mary was a nurse's aide for 26 years at the Marshalltown Manor Nursing Home (Southridge Nursing Home) where she brought a gentle hand and a warm smile to all the residents, many of whom she continued to visit long after her retirement from there. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Marshalltown, for many years, and later became a member of New Hope Christian Church, Marshalltown. She and Don were part of the "Alive with New Hope" group, enjoying their golden years together. They loved to travel and camp, with their children in the early years and later with their grandchildren. Mary loved dancing, bowling, gardening, and was an avid animal lover. She will be especially missed by her dog Dusty. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Donald; children, Beverly (Ronald) Rohde of Marshalltown, Diane (Sam) Moussalli of Ankeny, Daniel Lee (Delawn) Emerson of Marshalltown, Daniel Joe (Loretta) Ecklor of Cedar Rapids, Julie (Douglas) Weatherman of Marshalltown, Tammie (Richard) Casciato of Des Moines, Winona Logan of Des Moines, and David (Bobbie) Ecklor of Lebanon, Missouri. Mary was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
