Description	:	Mary J. Hennessy, 76, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at 4000 Valley Square, Woodside Manor in Grand Forks. Mary Jean Carmody was born October 2, 1935 in Carrington, ND, the daughter of James and Ethel (Hill) Carmody. She attended school in Carrington and graduated from Carrington High School in 1953. Hennessy, 76, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at 4000 Valley Square, Woodside Manor in Grand Forks. Mary Jean Carmody was born October 2, 1935 in Carrington, ND, the daughter of James and Ethel (Hill) Carmody. She attended school in Carrington and graduated from Carrington High School in 1953. After graduation, she moved to Minot, ND where she was employed with Northwestern Bell. She married Duane Hennessy on December 1, 1956 in Carrington. They later moved to Bismarck, ND and returned to Minot in 1966. They eventually moved to Grand Forks in 1969. She graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1972 with a degree in English. She continued to work for Northwestern Bell for several years and then earned her real estate license in 1987. She went into real estate and worked for offices in both Fargo and Grand Forks over the next 20 plus years. She was a member of the Pioneers organization for many years, and was a lecturer with them, traveling to many different cities and locales for them. She and Duane traveled extensively over the years, including Japan, Germany, New Zealand and of course, Ireland. Duane preceded her in death on September 9, 2010. Mary enjoyed her grandkids and spent a great deal of time with them. She was an avid reader and loved listening to the radio. She and Duane were always out enjoying a good cup of coffee. She is survived by her sons, Kirk, Grand Forks, ND, Kevin (Erin), Fontana, CA; a daughter, Kelly, Victorville, CA; grandchildren, Jacob, Jannon, and Max; sisters, Marge (Greg) Brady, Bismarck, ND, Debbie Carmody, Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Bob (Mary) Carmody, Charlotte, VT, Larry Carmody, Manhattan, KS, and Roger (Susan) Carmody, Fergus Falls, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her son, Kem; her parents; brothers, Stan, Dick, Frank, Tom, and Mike Carmody. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service and 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Tuesday. Burial: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
