Mary Jean Eganhouse of Wyoming, Iowa died on Monday, Jan 4, 1999 at the Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, following a lengthy illness. she was born on April 9, 1925 at Monmouth, Iowa, the daughter of Lorne and Meta Hunwardsen Miller. She attended the Monmouth schools where she graduated in 1943. On April 26, 1944, she married Merton J. Eganhouse at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Baldwin, and after their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm west of Monmouth where Merton farmed and Mary Jean was a homemaker. They continued farming for many years and after his death in June of 1986, she moved into Wyoming where she resided until her death. Mrs. Eganhouse was a member of the Sacred heart Catholic Church at Oxford Junction, a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Monmouth Women's Club, volunteered at the Sacred Heart Catholic Schools for several years at Maquoketa, was involved with Birthrite, and was a supporter of Camp Courageous, Monticello. She had also served as a 4-H leader in her younger years. Survivors include one son, Steven Eganhouse and wife, Sue, of Wyoming; three grandchildren, Ann, Lisa and Jeff; two sisters, Anna Mae Mohr of Maquoketa and Miriam (Mrs. Arnold) Brown of Andrew; one brother Forrest Miller and wife Dixie of Monmouth; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Merton, she was preceded in death by her parents. Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming, was in charge of arrangements.
