(NOTE: Contributed by step-daughter, Kathy (Swaney) Muller, on June 25, 2012) ***************************** Published July 8, 2003 - Chanute, KS Mary Joan Swaney, 73, of Chanute, Kansas passed away Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. She was born December 7, 1930 in Elsmore, Kansas the daughter of Fred & Waive (Cheezman) Goyette. The family moved to Humboldt, Kansas, where she was a graduate of Humboldt High School. In 1961, she married Kenneth G. Swaney in Miami, Oklahoma, he survives. The couple had been married 42 years. Mrs. Swaney was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone in Chanute, Kansas. She retired after many years of service. She enjoyed painting and was a very accomplished pianist. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth G. Swaney, of Chanute, Kansas; two daughters, Barbara Roberts, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, and Kathy Muller, of Bothell, Washington; and 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters. Funeral services will be , December 15, 2003 at the Living Word Assembly of God with Rev. Milton Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery on East 14th Street, Chanute, Kansas. Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel, Chanute, Kansas is in charge of arrangements. ********************************
