Description	:	Mary J. Anderson, 80, of Akron passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Akron Care Center in Akron. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron, with the Rev. Dawn Quame officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Akron. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present after 5 p.m. and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Carlsen Funeral Home-Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Mary Joan Anderson was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Inwood, Iowa, the daughter of Helmer and Johanne (Severson) Moen. She was baptized and confirmed. She attended school in Inwood and graduated from Inwood Public Schools. She graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls with a teaching degree. She began her teaching career in Akron. While in Akron, she met Milton "Swede" J. Anderson. They were united in marriage on Jan. 13, 1951, in Inwood. After teaching for six years, she became a homemaker for her family. Mary and Swede farmed near Akron for many years. In April 2006, they became residents of Akron Care Center. Mary was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron, where she was active in L.C.W. and W.E.L.C.A. For 28 years, she served as church custodian. Mary also worked as a dietary cook for the Akron Care Center for 10 years. She and Swede were active in YoMaCo and Akron Dinner Club for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and traveling. But most of all, she loved being with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband of more than 56 years, Milton of Akron; two sons, Mark Anderson and his wife, Sue of Mankato, Minn., and Morey Anderson of Akron; two daughters, Melissa Utesch and her husband, Steve of Marcus, Iowa, and Merrilee Easton and her husband, Rick of Westfield, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Shawna Anderson of Mankato, Nick Utesch of Jersey City, N.J., Bryan Utesch of Chicago, Ill., Sarah Utesch of Omaha, Tanner Utesch of Marcus, Tyler Easton of Akron, Brad and Nathan Easton of Akron; two sisters, Jane Hansen and her husband, Marlo, and June Katt and her husband, Don; a brother, Henry Moen and his wife, Marguerite; a sister-in-law: Dorothy Moen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister in infancy; a brother, Herman Moen; and two sisters, Angie Hanson and her husband, Harland and Charlotte Anderson and her husband, Don. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
