Mary Josephine Srb was born ib Cleveland, Ohio, February 12, 1907, the second of nine children to James and Anna (Sounik) Srb, and moved with her parents to North Dakota in 1910, where they homesteaded in the Mott and Regent areas. She worked for many area families, lending a hand when and where necessary, as did most folks in those early settlement years. Mary was united in marriage to William Frank Wallace in 1931. They farmed seven miles north of Mott until William passed away in December 1959. Mary will always be remembered for her beautiful hand made quilts, and fancy work as well as the number of years she assisted many families in the care of their young children. Grandma Mary was always eager to give her grandchildren and great grandchildren plates full of chocolate chip cookies. Her warm smile and easy-going manner will be greatly missed. Her great joys were her family and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her three daughters; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and two sisters. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, James; her daughter, Fern; her step-son, Minor; her step-daughter, Myrtle; her son-in-law, Lawrence Miller; five brothers, James Jr., Frank, Charles, Joseph and Robert; and one sister, Ann.
