Description	:	Mary Joyce immigrated to the United States from Ireland before 1862. She married Michael Carrigan, another immigrant from Ireland, in 1862 in Massachusetts. It would appear that they lived in the Burkeshire, Massachusetts area for a time as their oldest daughter, Mary E., was born there in February 1863. They then must have immediately headed west to Missouri since their second child, Richard M., was born in December of 1863. Two more children, Alice Jane and Michael T. were also born in Missouri. She married Michael Carrigan, another immigrant from Ireland, in 1862 in Massachusetts. It would appear that they lived in the Burkeshire, Massachusetts area for a time as their oldest daughter, Mary E., was born there in February 1863. Their names are: William H., John, Thomas, Catherine M., Agnes L., Frank, Charlie Placidus and James Francis. Her obituary appeared in the Atchison Daily Globe as follows: Mrs. Mary Carrigan, age 65 years, died at 2:20 this morning at her home north of Doniphan Station. Her husband died August 5, 1904. Mrs. Carrigan was born in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, and had lived on the same farm where her death occurred for twenty-eight years. She was a woman of great worth, and was held in high esteem by friends and neighbors. She is survived by eleven children: Mrs. Mary Shea and Mrs. Martin Baker, of Atchison; Mrs. Agnes McCourt and William Carrigan, of Atchison County; John Carrigan, of Sheridan, Wyoming who was home on a visit; Frank Carrigan, of St. Paul, Minnesota and the following who lived at home: Richard, Charles, James, Tom and Miss Kate Carrigan. The funeral will leave the house Saturday morning at 8 o'clock; requiem high mass at St. Benedict's at 11 o'clock, and internment in the Catholic cemetery.
