Description	:	Mary "Katie" Terry, age 67, of Storm Lake, Iowa died May 27, 2010 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Mary Katharine Watson was born on October 7, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to James Watson and Theodora Brown. Theodora married David Chasen and later, Ed Hartmann. In 1952, Katie was baptized at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida and later confirmed in 1955. She graduated from Duncan U. Read More	Mary "Katie" Terry, age 67, of Storm Lake, Iowa died May 27, 2010 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Mary Katharine Watson was born on October 7, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to James Watson and Theodora Brown. Theodora married David Chasen and later, Ed Hartmann. In 1952, Katie was baptized at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida and later confirmed in 1955. She graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher High School in Jacksonville Beach, Florida in 1960, having attended 12 different schools. During the time Katie lived in Florida, she worked for Southern Bell and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, doing clerical work. It was also during this time, that she met and fell in love with Eral Terry. On March 8, 1968, Mary was united in marriage to Eral L. Terry in Wichita, Kansas. They made their home in Wichita before moving to San Antonio, Texas. Eral worked for radio stations in both of these cities. They moved back to Florida from San Antonio for a brief time before returning to Eral's hometown of Storm Lake, Iowa. During the early years that they lived in Storm Lake, Katie worked briefly at the Lake Avenue Café and Ken-A-Bob, retiring in 1971. Her health problems didn't permit her to work any further. Eral and Katie also made their home in Cherokee and then Alta. After Eral passed away, Katie lived at Spectra in Storm Lake, then Wel-Life in Alta and most recently at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids. Katie attended Lakeside Presbyterian Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church, while living in Storm Lake. Over the years, Katie was a member of the Beaches Catholic Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Duval County Young Republicans and Communications Workers of America (CWA) when she worked for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph, Co. and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, Inc. Katie lived in eight states and visited two others, over the span of her life. She liked cats and parakeets, as pets. In addition, Katie enjoyed reading and writing poetry; having published one of her poems, "A Prayer for Peace". She also enjoyed making craft items and helped with the quilting group when she lived at Lakeview apartments in Storm Lake. Her other hobbies included: vegetable gardening, playing piano and collecting proverbs and epigrams. Those left to cherish Katie's memory are her step-brother, Edward Hartmann, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Pensacola, Florida; her sister-in-law, Doris Rice and husband, Thomas of Storm Lake, Iowa; nieces: Amy Rice and husband, Pranav Vyas; Rhoda Beaird; Sara Johnston and husband, Steve; Leigh Ann Long and husband, Jeremy; great nieces and great nephews: Ashley and Rene Beaird, Mason, Marissa and Evan Johnston, and Natalie Long; extended family and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eral Terry; father- and mother-in-law, Lewis and Cecelia Terry; step-father and mother, Edward and Theodora Hartmann; father, James Watson; aunt, Mary Brown; and two uncles, Rex Brown and Ben Brown.
