Mrs Bowden was taken to the hospital at Iowa City last Saturday after Dr. D.L. Rater, city physician, had diagnosed her condition as being "tick fever" the same malady that had earlier in the week proven fatal to her son. She was the daughter of Mack and Verda Archer and was born April 18, 1904, at West Branch, Tennessee. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for the last 14 years. Surviving are her husband, John; two sons, Daniel Cleek, a torpedo-man, second class in the navy theatre, and Fagan Cleek of Glenwood, and four daughters, Jean Cleek of Blakesburg and Betty Lou, Marilyn and Florence Bowden all at home. Her mother, Mrs Verda Archer of Ottumwa and three brothers, George, John and Robert Archer all of Ottumwa, also survive. The body is beng brought to the Johnson Funeral Chapel here to await completion of funeral arrangements.
