Description	:	Mary Elliott (Died January 5, 2008) Mary Elliott, 88 of Montezuma passed away Saturday January 5, 2008, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A private family memorial service is planned. Her body has been cremated. A memorial may be made to the Grinnell Hospice. Mary L. Elliott, daughter of John and Hulda Paitz Ketels was born August 25, 1919 near Blairstown, IA. She was the youngest of seven kids and a twin to Harry. Early in life Maryâ??s family moved to the Barnes City area where she attended school. Her family later moved the Montezuma area where she attended and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1937. She worked at the Montezuma CafÃ© and was united in marriage to Clem P. Elliott on December 9, 1943 in Rockford, Illinois. No children were born to this union which resulted in a divorce. She retired as a secretary and a buyer from Brownells in Montezuma. Mary and her sister Hilda maintained the family home and took care of their parents. She enjoyed yard work, gardening and the simple pleasures of small town living. Her memory is honored by three nephews,and six nieces. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Walter Ketels, Fred Ketels and Harry Ketels; three sisters, Ellen Stites, Minnie Richards and Hilda Wood; two nieces, Joyce Nolin and Janice Ketels and a nephew, Norman Ketels.
