They were the parents of 9 children: Katherine, John, Albert, Mary, Dominic, Susanna. May 29, 1924 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Mary Reiff died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Harrison, Monday morning, May 26, at 11:55 o'clock after being in poor health since undergoing a serious operation several months ago. Mrs. Reiff, whose maiden name was Mary Knaff, was born in Uselding, Luxemburg, Germany, May 5 1842, and with her parents came to this country at the age of three years. They settled at Belgium, Wis. where she remained until after her marriage to John Reiff, May 24 1864, when she and her husband located at Ossion, Ia. From there they moved to Extra, Ia., which was their home until 1911 when they moved to a farm south of Carroll. In 1917 Mr. and Mrs. Reiff retired from farming and that same year Mr. Reiff died. Of the nine children born four are living. Three died in childhood. Katherine died at the age of 23 years and Dominic died at Howard, S.D., March 19, 1919. The surviving children are John of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mary, who made her home with her mother; Mrs. J.S. Harrison, and Albert, who lives on the home place south of town. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. J.P. Weyker of Milwaukee, Wis., and one brother, J.N. Knaff of Wisconsin. She was of a family of two boys and five girls. Mrs. Reiff was a member of the S.S. Peter and Paul church and the Rosary society. She was an exceptionally pleasant and agreeable woman with many friends, won through her gentleness of manner. Funeral services will be held at the S.S. Peter and Paul church Friday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery.
