Pfab, 90, of Epworth, formerly of Bernard, died at 2:19 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth, with the Rev. Xavier Deitiker and the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fillmore. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m., and a Catholic Daughters of America rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. She was born on Feb. 13, 1918, in Springbrook, daughter of Henry and Anna (Heiar) Arensdorf. She grew up on a farm at La Motte and attended Holy Rosary School. She married William Pfab on Oct. 29, 1940, at Holy Rosary Church, La Motte; he preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1976. Mary and Bill farmed in the Zwingle area and then moved to their Bernard farm in 1944 and raised their seven children there. After Bill's death, Mary moved to Epworth and made many new friends. She chauffeured many of her lady friends around town to bingo games and card games. She will always be remembered with a smile on her face. She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth and the Farley Catholic Daughters of the America's-Presentation Court 1460. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress, making a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She loved to do patching for her kids and grandkids. Cooking also was a passion of Mary's. She could have a meal on the table in minutes. The grandkids loved her "Jell-O Jigglers" and pumpkin custard. She taught all of her grandkids many card games. They all enjoyed going to bingo with her, especially when she split her winnings with them. Mary is going to be sadly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are seven children, Gerald (Beverly) Pfab, of Waddell, Ariz., Leanna (Paul) Feldmann, of Dyersville, Loras Pfab, of Bernard, Marion (Fred) Hentges, of Peosta, Corinne (Joe) McQuillen, of Peosta, Maxine (Denny) Dolphin and Earl Pfab, both of Dubuque; 26 grandchildren, Lori (Shawn) Bomar, Kathy (Joey) Phillips, Jodi (Eric) Breyfogle, Jeff (Linda) Feldmann, Karen (Curt) Keppler, Randy (Kathy) Feldmann, Nancy (Mike) Smith, Kenny Feldmann, Tammy (Luke) Ameskamp, Sue (Al) Mensen, Brian Pfab, Kim (Marv) Lynch, Dan Pfab, Eric (Claire) Hentges, Matt (Rachel) Hentges, Stacy (Lino) DeCristofaro, Tim McQuillen (Tracie Kammerude) McQuillen, Jeff McQuillen, Todd (Traci) Dolphin, Troy (Andrea) Dolphin, Curt (Angie) Dolphin, Heather Dolphin (Jason Plumley), Adam (Alissa) Pfab, Sarah (Kent Blakeman) Pfab; 54 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Rita) Arensdorf, of La Motte; three sisters-in-laws, Patricia Arensdorf, of Dubuque, Joan Arensdorf, of Zwingle, and Sr. Cosmas Pfab, of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Melvin (Evelyn) Lenz, of La Motte. She also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Darlene Pfab, on March 9, 2005; a grandson, Keith Pfab, on July 4, 1985; a granddaughter, Brenda Feldmann, on April 18, 1973; and a future daughter-in-law, Laura Willenborg, on Oct. 18, 2008; siblings, Leo Arensdorf, Henry (Grace) Arensdorf, Joe (Marlena) Arensdorf, Nick (Gertrude) Arensdorf, Cy Arensdorf, Tillie (Burnell) Konrardy, Lizzie (Fritzie) Ambrosy, Anita Lenz and Christina Arensdorf; her in-laws, Frank (Dora) Pfab, John (Viola) Pfab Sr., Orlando Pfab, Margaret (Mike) Puetz, Frances (John) Decker, Katie (John) Takes, Aloysius (Loretta) Pfab, Joseph (Agnes) Pfab, and Henry (Regina) Pfab, Mary E. Pfab and Clara (LeRoy) Hoffman.
