Read More	Funeral Was Held Last Friday For Pioneer Resident of County _________ Mary Lena McCall daughter of James and Martha McCall was born March 19, 1875 in Calaway County, Mo., near the town of Fulton. When she was 14 years of age she moved with her parents to Iowa on a farm east of Castana. At the age of 17 years she joined the Methodist church, was baptised and has remained a true christian through life. On March 5, 1898 she was united in marriage to Giles Reed. To this union was born two sons Louis and Leonard. Except for the four years they lived in California they resided in the vicinity of Castana. She was preceded in death by her husband, October 22, 1940. Having been in ill health for over a year with a malignana disease she passed away at her home on Dec. 29, 1942 at the age of 67 years 9 months and 10 days. Besides her two sons and 3 grand children she is survived by three brothers, Henry, Walter, and Howard of Castana; Mrs. Andy Moss of Stuart, Neb. and Mrs. Oscar Holverson of Soldier, Iowa. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She was a sacrificing, kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to many nieces and nephews. To know her was to love her. The funeral was on Friday Jan.1st at the Ticonic Methodist church under charge of Rev. Garner Osborn and the Byers undertaking serivce. Burial was in the Kennebec cemetery.
