Description	:	CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND —- Mary Lenore "Polly" Taylor, 86, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, at UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Born on June 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Lenore (Lippold) and Arthur F. Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Rev. Francis DeSales Young, OFM, Cap, and Rev. Valentine Young, OFM, Cap; sisters; Margaret Ann McKenzie and husband Ambrose "Mac" McKenzie, and Helene (Young) Teter and husband Roy D. "Dick" Teter. Born on June 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Lenore (Lippold) and Arthur F. Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Rev. Francis DeSales Young, OFM, Cap, and Rev. Valentine Young, OFM, Cap; sisters; Margaret Ann McKenzie and husband Ambrose "Mac" McKenzie, and Helene (Young) Teter and husband Roy D. "Dick" Teter. Polly was a 1952 graduate of Ursuline Academy in Cumberland, MD. Following high school, she attended Ursuline College in Louisville, KY. Polly loved to sing at church and often sang at weddings and funerals. In addition to her musical skills, Polly was a steadfast supporter of her husband's business and political careers. When Cas was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates, Polly became more involved in the family business. As Cas' political career advanced, Polly took over the management of the business. When Cas became Speaker of the House of Delegates, Polly continued to be one of his closest advisors. Polly was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church before joining St. Mary's Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, and St. Mary's Catholic Church Choir. She was also a member of the Fourth District Democratic Women's Club, a founding member of St. Anthony's Gift Shop at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, the Western Maryland Health System Auxiliary, and supported Archway Station where she at one time served on the Board of Directors. She was a member of the Cumberland Council Knights of Columbus 586 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Order of Alhambra Caravan 89 Sultana's. Polly's husband, Cas, and her sons, Dane and Brendan, graduated from the University of Notre Dame. Because of this association, Polly was a Fighting Irish supporter. Polly is survived by her husband of 64 years, Casper Rohman Taylor, Jr.; sons Dane E. Taylor and wife Linda, and Brendan B. Taylor and wife Carmen; grandchildren, Mallory A. Solner and husband Michael, Colin A. Taylor and wife Sara Burnett, and Devin P. Taylor and wife Jess, C. Rohman Taylor, III, and M. Quinn Taylor; great grandchildren, Olivia J. Solner, William E. Solner, Maia E. Taylor, Aidan M. Taylor, and a great grandson due to be born in August. Polly is also survived by her brother, Paul Young, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday, May 14, 2021, from 4-7 P.M. The Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at noon at SS. Peter and Paul Shrine, 125 Fayette Street, Cumberland. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
